Meet the Founder, CEO, & CTO
Paul Edoho-Eket
The story behind EDTEK Consulting and its vision for educational transformation.
The Journey to EDTEK Consulting
Paul Edoho-Eket's path to founding EDTEK Consulting was shaped by over a decade of experience at the unique intersection of education, technology, and design.
The Foundation Years
Paul's career began in higher education, where he quickly recognized the transformative potential of thoughtfully implemented educational technology. Working as a Systems Administrator at the University of Arizona, he led critical initiatives in LMS administration, cloud migrations to AWS, and integrating institutional applications through custom APIs.
"I was fascinated by how the right technology solution, implemented with a deep understanding of educational contexts, could dramatically improve both teaching and learning experiences," Paul recalls. "But I also saw countless examples of technology implementations that failed because they didn't truly address the needs of educators and students."
"Technology should never be an obstacle to learning—it should be an enabler. This principle has guided my entire career and is at the heart of EDTEK Consulting's approach."
Developing Technical Expertise
As an Application Developer at the University of Iowa, Paul built custom modules, crafted institutional system integrations, and facilitated complex cloud architecture transitions. These experiences provided invaluable insights into the technical challenges faced by educational institutions attempting digital transformation.
His subsequent role as Web Program Director at Nossi College of Art allowed him to implement campus-wide LMS solutions, manage comprehensive web and mobile application development, and coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve institutional technology goals. This blend of technical expertise and leadership experience proved essential for understanding how to bridge the gap between technological possibility and educational reality.
The Entrepreneurial Path
Before founding EDTEK Consulting, Paul co-founded Asili Technologies, where he delivered custom web and mobile applications specifically designed for educational partners. This entrepreneurial venture provided firsthand experience with the challenges of creating technology that truly serves educational missions.
Paul's time as a Professor at Fisk University further deepened his commitment to educational excellence. There, he developed and taught courses on design fundamentals and design thinking, focusing on student-centered learning approaches and curriculum innovation that would later inform EDTEK's holistic approach to educational technology consulting.
Founding EDTEK Consulting
In 2022, drawing on this rich background of experiences, Paul established EDTEK Consulting with a clear mission: to help educational institutions and organizations unlock the full potential of digital learning through expertly designed systems, data-driven insights, and seamless technology integration.
"I founded EDTEK because I saw a critical need for technology consulting that truly understands the unique challenges of educational environments," Paul explains. "Too often, educational institutions try to apply corporate IT solutions without adapting them to the specific needs of teaching and learning."
Today, Paul leads EDTEK Consulting with a commitment to delivering tailored solutions that bridge the gap between innovative technology and impactful learning. By assembling custom teams of specialists for each client engagement, he ensures that EDTEK provides the right expertise for every project while maintaining his personal oversight throughout the process.
A Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, Paul envisions EDTEK Consulting as a driving force in shaping how educational technology evolves to meet the changing needs of learners and institutions.
"The educational landscape is being transformed by AI, data analytics, and new models of digital learning," Paul notes. "Our goal is to help our clients not just keep pace with these changes but to harness them strategically to advance their educational missions."
"At the end of the day, what drives me is seeing how the right technology, thoughtfully implemented, can create better educational experiences and outcomes. That's the ultimate measure of success for EDTEK Consulting."
Philosophy & Approach
Education First, Technology Second
Paul believes that successful edtech implementations must start with educational goals and pedagogical needs, not with the technology itself. This education-first approach ensures solutions that truly enhance learning.
Customized Solutions
Every educational institution has unique needs, culture, and goals. Paul has built EDTEK around the principle that cookie-cutter approaches to edtech rarely succeed—customization is essential.
Human-Centered Design
Drawing on his background in design thinking, Paul advocates for putting users—students, faculty, and staff—at the center of technology decisions to ensure solutions that people can and will use effectively.
Data-Informed Innovation
Paul champions the thoughtful use of data to drive decision-making, measure outcomes, and continuously improve educational technology implementations over time.
